Rules and guidelines for using the Brothers United Mentorship Program's services

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Brothers United Mentorship Program's (referred to as "BUMP," "we," "us," or "our") website and services, including any content, functionality, and services offered on or through our website (the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

Program Eligibility

The BUMP mentorship program is open to students in grades 6-8 who self-identify as male and are members of the African and Caribbean diaspora and/or biracial. Participation in our program requires:

  • Parental/guardian consent through our registration process
  • Commitment to attend weekly sessions for the full duration of the program
  • Adherence to our code of conduct and behavioral expectations
  • Completion of all registration forms and permission documents

Mentor applicants must be at least 16 years of age, submit to a background check, and meet our criteria for mentorship roles.

Registration and Code of Conduct

Registration

To participate in our program, parents/guardians must complete the registration process with accurate and complete information. By submitting a registration, you affirm that all information provided is true and that you agree to maintain its accuracy.

Program Conduct

All participants must adhere to our code of conduct, which promotes respect, responsibility, and safety. We reserve the right to remove any participant from the program for repeated or serious violations of our conduct expectations, including but not limited to:

  • Bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind
  • Physical aggression or fighting
  • Disruptive behavior that impedes program activities
  • Use of prohibited substances
  • Theft or property damage
  • Failure to follow safety instructions

Program Schedule and Attendance

The BUMP program runs weekly on Fridays from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM from February 28th to June 13th, 2025, at Ajax High School.

We expect regular attendance from all participants. Parents/guardians are responsible for:

  • Ensuring participants arrive on time and are picked up promptly
  • Notifying program coordinators of any absences in advance
  • Understanding that BUMP is only responsible for participants during official program hours (3:30-6:00 PM)

Consistent unexcused absences may result in review of program participation.

Intellectual Property Rights

The Service and its entire contents, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all information, software, text, displays, images, video, and audio, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof) are owned by BUMP, its licensors, or other providers of such material and are protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the material on our website, except as follows:

  • Your computer may temporarily store copies of such materials in RAM incidental to your accessing and viewing those materials.
  • You may store files that are automatically cached by your Web browser for display enhancement purposes.
  • You may print or download one copy of a reasonable number of pages of the website for your own personal, non-commercial use and not for further reproduction, publication, or distribution.

Photo and Video Consent

During program activities, we may take photographs or videos for promotional, training, or evaluation purposes. Use of such media is subject to explicit parental/guardian consent as detailed in our registration forms.

Parents/guardians may choose to:

  • Provide full consent for all specified uses
  • Withhold consent entirely

Website Use and Restrictions

You may use our website only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to use our website:

  • In any way that violates applicable federal, provincial, local, or international law or regulation.
  • For the purpose of exploiting, harming, or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way.
  • To transmit any material that is defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, offensive, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
  • To impersonate or attempt to impersonate BUMP, a BUMP employee, another user, or any other person or entity.
  • To engage in any other conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of the website.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. NEITHER BUMP NOR ANY PERSON ASSOCIATED WITH BUMP MAKES ANY WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION WITH RESPECT TO THE COMPLETENESS, SECURITY, RELIABILITY, QUALITY, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICE.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL BUMP, ITS AFFILIATES, OR THEIR LICENSORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OFFICERS, OR DIRECTORS BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, UNDER ANY LEGAL THEORY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BUMP, its affiliates, licensors, and service providers, and its and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, suppliers, successors, and assigns from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service.

Modifications to Terms

We may revise and update these Terms from time to time at our sole discretion. All changes are effective immediately when we post them, and apply to all access to and use of the website thereafter. Your continued use of the website following the posting of revised Terms means that you accept and agree to the changes.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or related to them, their subject matter, or their formation shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without giving effect to any choice or conflict of law provisions.
